Today President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has received newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan Dmitry Shlapachenko.
Handing to the head of the state his credentials, the diplomat expressed his deep gratitude for the hearty welcome accorded on the Turkmen land and conveyed warm words of greeting from the Secretary General of United Nations António Guterres who expressed confidence of further consolidation of fruitful cooperation with permanently neutral Turkmenistan, confidently following the path of progress and peace-making .
Having congratulated Dmitry Shlapachenko on the start of his work in Turkmenistan, the leader of the nation conveyed reciprocally best regards to the management of the largest international organisation, long-term partnership with which always has a constructive character.
During the meeting the fruitful exchange of opinions on a wide spectrum of issues, concerning the present state, basic directions and prospects of further development of effective dialogue built on principles of trust and mutual trust took place.
Interlocutors with satisfaction ascertained that Turkmenistan taking in the lead positions in the Central Asian region became one of the first countries which has nationalised SDGs, carrying out active joint over introduction of the Goals in national plans and programs.
The landmark for this activity on foreseeable prospect is the Framework programme of cooperation signed in March, 2020 in sustainable development between the Government of Turkmenistan and UN for 2021-2025. It testifies to expansion of frameworks of interaction of our country with specialised establishments of the United Nations.
Among the last - the Resolutions accepted this year “Strengthening the links between all modes of transport to achieve stable and reliable international transport for sustainable development during and after the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic” and « Role of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia».
Location of the headquarters UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) in Ashkhabad is a bright evidence of huge trust and respect for the peaceful foreign policy and policy of "open doors» of sovereign Turkmenistan invariably supporting an effective utilisation of political -diplomatic mechanisms and potential of preventive diplomacy in the international affairs for achievement of sustainable development, peace and security.
Discussing joint measures on further development of multidimensional cooperation, the leader of the nation and the diplomat noted importance of the actions carried out in the year, proclaimed at the initiative of our country as International year of peace and trust, and also in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of establishment of the United Nations.
